Welcome to Aces High lutrel.

Currently the Knights seem to be the low chess piece on the totem pole and would certainly welcome a squad of experienced sticks. That said, the chess piece numbers advantage seems to work its way around about every 6 months.
Best advice from my end is to try a week in each "country" and get a feel for the lay of the land.

That said, there's an advantage to flying the chess piece with the lowest number of players at any given time. ENY (you'll learn about it soon enough) values are low or non-existent and perk points values (you'll learn that too :D )
are higher.

Have fun here and if anybody suggests on comm radio, to Alt + F6, don't do it :rofl

Good luck and Happy Hunting!

Thank you for the warm welcome guys; I think maybe the Allied Vs. Axis arena may be closer to what we are used to.  We are used to very short icon ranges and allied vs axis plane sets, as well as a smaller crowd.  It will take a week or so to get the guys all set up and halfway organized in the arena; see ya'll in the air soon.

U wont find much to fight in the A vs A, I control a squadron of about 30 guys myself, and i also run most if not all of the Missions on the rook side. I am responsible for alot of the wars won on the rook side, and put a stop to others winning, kind of like a LTARD but without the tard;).

I took alot of time to learn EVERY aspect of this game, and would be more than happy to show u some ropes, im sure u got the ACMs down and u will probly only need help with the technical stuff, and setup,

If u ever hop to the rook side check vox channel 120, my squad is to big to be recruting anyone else, especally since all of them are active atleast every other day and i have 2 alli squads that will wing up with us when we are in short numbers.

But me and my guys will always be willing to help,

VMF 323 Deathrattlers

also the Arch Angels

and the VF-31 tomcatters as well, all are willing to lend a hand to anyone that needs some help, and when i ever make some free time, im going to hit the DA alot more and do some more 1 on 1 training with my squad, u are more than welcome to do that as well.

Hi Lutrel. Your WarBirds squadron is an old, established and honourable one for sure. You guys will love it here.

I never flew with or against you (you were flying an earlier version back then), but as an ex-Ferret (snofox), I sure know about you guys and your efforts to keep the WWII Arena alive over there. Wonderful effort between you and the Ferrets. Too bad iEN just won't respond anymore.

But you will like it here too. Our scenarios are boss, and the AvA Arena is looking for good players and squadrons all the time. The Main Arena, and the Early War and Mid War Arenas are riots if you don't mind the mixed plane sets. And the flight models get changed here, and the planes fly like they should, and the game gets upgraded all the time, and everything WORKS! And if you guys fly like a disciplined squadron, you will rule.

Don't forget the Training Arena for help with setup and getting used to flight models and such. There are excellent trainers in there.

The very best to all of you. You've made the right choice.

:aok

eh?

Lut, welcome, good to have you and your guys here.

Once you get settled in, please don't hesitate to contact me and I'll see if I can get you set up into a familiar event.  We have mid week snapshots which are a walkon based event, Friday Squad Ops which are a more formal squadron based event, and we shoot for quarterly scenarios that take a few months to build and a month to run.

Anything I can do to help you guys ease into our community just ask.  PM or hit me on the email link in signature.

Again, Welcome, and it's good to have you with us.

Wow!! Is there an exodus happening here??

Welcome to AH Avengers. Just have to say, if your looking for a place that has good FMs, good DMs, and a large following well, you've found it.
I might say that you won't go back to WB.

You may remember me...founder member former CO of The League of Gentlemen...Stevex.....way back to Fighter Ops.  I left DaveJH in charge.

I can promise you, you guys will not regret the move.  So I bid you welcome aboard.  Most the key commands are the same as are the dot commands.  Your transition will be swift with this regard.

I'll give you a brief heads up on a few other things.  Text channels work almost the same but you will need to reset them to your preferences.  Remember channel 6 is HELP channel but not many tuned into it so use 2 COUNTRY for help.  By HELP I mean game information not "oh watermelon bandit on me 6"  lol.

No auto bomber gunners here but gunning for yourself is just as effective especially with drones attached.  Similar laser single salvo bomb site as in old FO.  Just a short calibration needed.

No rolling plane set and a new Tour of Duty starts beginning of each month.  Runways are bomb proof so no spawn point bombing:D  There are a few indestructible buildings on all types of bases and just 1 in towns. Auto ack is nasty as is poofy ack.

Carriers are commandable and the 5 and 8 Inch guns are mannable but watch out for shore batteries and PT boat spawn points.  CV command can be taken away by a higher ranked player.

Ground Vehicles can be fun and zoom in in tank site is Z and ]]]]].  Use the spawn points and be careful not to drive into solid objects at an angle.  The GV will flip on it's side.  Damaged or rolled GV's can be fixed with "Vehicle supplies".  The ground war is a whole different ball game...Aces low I like to call it.  Not my cuppa tea but good for a change of pace from time to time.

As for fighters you'll soon see.  Maybe a week or so to get used to different characteristics.  Some very good sticks in here that know and use all the moves.  You'll love it.

Arenas least populated are Early War, Mid War (refers to plane set) and Axis v Allied.  Most populated are the 2 Late War arenas (full plane set).  Events are run frequently and a couple of biggies:D   There's a Training Arena and folk you can book for 1 on 1 training.  They have a good web site which could be worth checking out.

Stuff considered "not good form" are head on face shots.  Low level dive bombing in heavy bombers.  Bombing and bailing. Suiciding Carrier's.  Deliberately setting up a vulch with no intention to capture.

I have one question are you bringing that total and complete W*****r Reilly with you ?  This game doesn't need his type.

If not and your in rooksville I'll be glad to help out :aok

PS nearly forgot clipboard maps are not 100% accurate.
PPS  Stay channel 200 in late war for the time being.  It's ugly and none productive to a good evenings game.

We had to let Reilly go long ago, and Yorkies no longer with us either.  There are about 17 or 18 us looking into the switch of sims.  It is good to see all these old names from our past in here, and thanks for all the offers of help in getting us started.  I'm wondering if it will be better to use Team Speak for squad comms or does the VOX in the game offer a squad channel?  Any advise on that will be appreciated as most of our squad language requires segregated or filtered for the most part; dirty old military men...............
