Bomb selection while in bomb site
« on: September 06, 2007, 04:36:05 PM »
I wish you knew what bomb was selected when you were in the bomb site.

E.G When in a Lanc,  am I about to drop a 500lber or a 4000lber

and

I would like to select which one to drop by pressing backspace while in the bomb site.

I doubt if the pilot selected the bombs to drop as they do in AHII.  That must have been down to the bombardier.

Also having the bomb count available in the text in the top left would be nice too.

I was going to ask this...never got around to it...

I always seem to drop the small bombs when I need to drop the big bomb...a bomb selector, or even a place wher eit tells you what you have selected.

I think a "station select indicator" would be a good idea..I know the A-20G
has always driven me nuts because when I load all 500 lbers I can never figure out if I have the wing or bombbay selected till after I dive :D

The Phantom had a good "gee whiz" feature too..a big red protected
button to dump all stations at once...of course it didn't have a bombbay:aok

i agree this would be nice, but it would also be wrong historically.
Most bombers in order to switch loads, you'd have to switch the position of the different size bombs (i dunno if you guys have tried to change a set of about 4 1k pound bombs, i haven't but i think that'd take a few people a few minutes), and in RL, most bombers carried one size. I agree that this would be a nice, and make it easier, but i think that bombing is easy enough as it is without having to calibrate the bombsite like you used to.
although i DO agree with having the bomb count avaliable in text in the top left, cause, if you really wanted to know how many bombs were left, you'd just have to count :]
sorry for being the "stick in the mud" but i just think that bombings getting easier and easier and much less realistic as it is.

need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the
WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

Bombs were loaded on the ground, not in mid-air.

Several planes we have carry a mix of bombs sizes and some are carried on external hardpoints. The pilot or bombardier had separate release mechanisms while we have a single button or key that serves for all ordnance. That is what’s wrong and this request is a sensible way to provide the function they had in RL.
Easy in-game again.
