QuickTime Alternative
« on: September 09, 2007, 04:53:45 PM »
I hate regular QuickTime and really don't want to install it on my new PC.  I've beed using QuickTime Alternative for a few years and love it.  Now, however, I see that QuickTime Alternative folded and is outdated.

What do you guys use that doesn't hose your PC?

CCCP
Combined Community Codec Pack

This one's always up to date.  It plays DivX to h264.  It loads fast and it doesn't slow down the PC.  It also comes with the Media Player classic:aok

I havn't used what 1ke posted but I can vouch for VLC.

VLC media player has been hands down the best I've ever used.  I have yet to encounter too many things that don't play on that

VLC is to players what firefox is to browsers except I have more confidence that it will work......if that says anything!

I don't think Quicktime Alternative has folded...perhaps just moved.

I like and use it myself, along with it's companion Real Alternative, but the only place I have ever downloaded them from is Free-Codecs.com

Current available version is 1.81 , and it can be found at:
