Interesting!  I too thought this was the case.

Evidence-  Calling of names (seagulls)  is both teasing AND a compliment!  It would seem to be teasing at first, becasue seagulls can be viewed as a "less than ideal" comparison.  But looking deeper you see that the seagull actually has much in common with storks (both nest in colonies, use a similar incubation strategy, often have similar coloration, eat similar foods, etc...) and that he compares their (the BoPs) flight style and strategy in particular with seagulls.  This is a serious compliment!  Seagulls have proven to be highly adaptable and successful worldwide (unlike storks) have high intelligence compared to other birds (including storks).  Also, seagulls are true "masters" of the air.  Who can watch them fly and not marvel at their ability???  They easily outclass storks in the air (which are much more ground oriented, and prefer to walk- note the long legs!) which basically do a lot of flying in a relaxed, fairly straight course.  The outsretched neck and legs don't help with manueverability.

Comparing the BoPs to a seagull also compares them to a bird that shares traits with storks, so it highlights similarities between two birds taht at first don't appear similar.

For that matter, seagulls are really only threatened/prey upon by a very few select raptors.  Most raptors do not have any hope of catching and subduing a seagull!

Also, we have seen demonstrations of prowess!  Listing of abilities (killing multiple players online).  True or not, people brag in an attempt to impress, whether for a job interview, potential friend / partner, etc...

So, we have-

Teasing, complimenting, highlight of similarities, and displays of prowess...

Sounds like a definate case of flirting, if not outright courtship behavior!

Could it be we mistook it for hatred at first because the mating displays of storks are so dissimilar to raptors?

Kicked Out!
« Reply #197 on: September 28, 2007, 05:23:16 AM »
.... ..

Well, 1st off, I put the squad on MY probation tryout to see if they are up to MY standards.  I have not met one squad I like, so far in 5 months playing this game.

I fly solo!  Gordo flew solo, too.

Change your in game name to somebody else and in here to forums go incognito.  The smarter, more observant fellows will probably figure you out, but as is true with common sense, common sense ain't so common.  I'm not worried.  Of course the upper echelon fellows privy to your IP number, know!

One squad in particular had so many pre-join qualifications I think all they do is kick people out.  They were the most foul mouth bunch of guys I've seen since framing houses.

I'm looking for just one guy to fly wingman while we protect each other.  I'm not interested in squads.

VOX channels are nice for intel.  Some guys use secondary channels thinking they are secure.  Best to use a 3rd party communication service.  Morse works.

Guys in here say score does not matter.  How many guys will change accounts and give up their perk points?

re:

If YOU Were Kicked Out Of A Squad

Would you accept that the people you fly with do not want to fly with you or listen to your rants on Squad Channel and find a new group to fly/vox with?

OR

Would you refuse to accept the fact that you have worn out your welcome with the squad and continue to vox, text, fly and generally pretend that you are still in the squad?

Just wondering what the majority opinion is. How would you view someone that took the later route and refused to go away?

Since when do score and perks have anything to do with each other?  A score potato doesn't play for perks, that's why they fly late war birds.

WooHoo, post # 200 of this thread...

And I still think storch has a desire to be a BoP or atleast immitate the BoPs.

By the way, artists think it is an honor to have a song parady by Weird Al.   So the BoPs should feel special with Storch and his whole FoS thing he's got kickin.
