Storch, if Dr. Phil was to read your replies to all the BoP threads he would probably say you have some repressed feelings and desire to join their ranks. But Dr. Phil is a quack anyway.
Interesting! I too thought this was the case.
Evidence- Calling of names (seagulls) is both teasing AND a compliment! It would seem to be teasing at first, becasue seagulls can be viewed as a "less than ideal" comparison. But looking deeper you see that the seagull actually has much in common with storks (both nest in colonies, use a similar incubation strategy, often have similar coloration, eat similar foods, etc...) and that he compares their (the BoPs) flight style and strategy in particular with seagulls. This is a serious compliment! Seagulls have proven to be highly adaptable and successful worldwide (unlike storks) have high intelligence compared to other birds (including storks). Also, seagulls are true "masters" of the air. Who can watch them fly and not marvel at their ability??? They easily outclass storks in the air (which are much more ground oriented, and prefer to walk- note the long legs!) which basically do a lot of flying in a relaxed, fairly straight course. The outsretched neck and legs don't help with manueverability.
Comparing the BoPs to a seagull also compares them to a bird that shares traits with storks, so it highlights similarities between two birds taht at first don't appear similar.
For that matter, seagulls are really only threatened/prey upon by a very few select raptors. Most raptors do not have any hope of catching and subduing a seagull!
Also, we have seen demonstrations of prowess! Listing of abilities (killing multiple players online). True or not, people brag in an attempt to impress, whether for a job interview, potential friend / partner, etc...
So, we have-
Teasing, complimenting, highlight of similarities, and displays of prowess...
Sounds like a definate case of flirting, if not outright courtship behavior!
Could it be we mistook it for hatred at first because the mating displays of storks are so dissimilar to raptors?
