Blew up my game

went to install the update tonight.. and it failed saying this:

Initialization failed with -9 mainWLD_FAILED -1


I'm running the Hi-res pack, should I have done something different before I updated??

could be a corrupt DL, or a myriad of other issues.

best suggestion? DL the full game, uninstall the game, delete all files ie. the c:\program files\HTC folder (save the "settings" folder to a different directory) and reinstall the game fresh. put the settings folder back and all should be good to run.


you may want to remove any files in the setting folder with "video" in the file name to be safe.

Just downloaded the update and applied manually, same exact error.

Intel Dual Core 2.6
4 gig system memory
Nvidia 8800 GTX with 7.15.11.5824 drivers
Running hi res.

Install is fresh from last release, and patch 1 was no problem.
Was trying to get a jump on updating my terrains before FSO...

There is no manual patch from "Version 2.11 Patch 1" to patch 2.  If you had "2.11 Patch 1" and tried to use either of the patches listed on the WEB site, you will corrupt your game installation.
