I know. Sucks the goverment (FCC) is forcing the changeover from standard to HD. There is nothing wrong with the channels as they are but apparently they want us to spend money on something that wasnt broke

My understanding is that in '09 analog will go away leaving us with only digital. That doesn't mean that standard definition will go away though. Any tv that works with a digital satellite receiver or digital cable box should continue to work. I'm sure that HD will eventually become the standard but that doesn't necessarily coincide with analog disappearing.

Digital is not the same as HD. Digital can be viewed on a regular NTSC TV.
