Polish Fighting Team Spitfire Mk 9
« on: September 09, 2007, 06:33:34 AM »
I've had a couple of requests to do a Polish Spit so here it is. This skin can be downloaded from the AH Skin Department.

This aircraft is from the Polish Fighting Team, who formed a flight of 145 Squadron in Tunisia in 1943. In six weeks they destroyed 25 aircraft for one loss. A history of the PFT can be found here.

I left the five kill Swastikas off as HTC won't allow them, but I might replace them with crosses instead. The squadron code on the right would more usually be "6 ZX" on an RAF aircraft, but I found a photo of a PFT Spit marked this way.

Awesome spitfire! I've been looking all over the place for this skin.

One problem though. I've followed the installation instructions as carefully as I could.
1) in the skins folder, I created a new folder called 'spit9_8' since I already have  7 other spitfire 9 skins.
2) I put the skin in that folder and created a txt file which shows up. Problem is, when I go into the hangar and select it, it just goes default.. even though it doesn't actually say 'default' on the skins box, like it usually does during a skin malfunction.

Any help would be great. Thanks!

Thanks guys, glad you like it.

Just to be sure I downloaded the skin from the Skin Department and tried it offline and it worked OK. SgtPappy, you should have the files spitix.bmp and spit9.txt in your spit9_8 folder. You haven't renamed the skin spit9.bmp have you?
