Ability to remove someone from tuned voice
« on: September 27, 2007, 06:24:31 AM »
Ok so a squadmate of yours runs a mission and not thinking he tells everyone mission channel is your normal squad vox channel. You log in a half hour after the mission done.  Vox channel is full of people half of which are not your squadmates.  You don't like to be rude and ask people to leave.  Yet for an hour voice channel can not really be used to plan a mission.

Or if you have a stalker  say your normal voice is 150. If he tunes 150 text he'll see any text that comes across, but won't be visible in your voice channel window. So he can in effect listen in to any plans that get typed into that channel. He can then contact someone on another side to ambush your flight.

Or you happen to get some loudmouthed drunken boor who's stumbled into your channel. He's cussing, swearing, howling at the moon disrupting your night.

If only there was a way, ANY way to "clear" or remove someone from the channel.

That would require at least one person to have some authority over that very channel.
Unlike squad channels, the numbered channels a free for everyone to use. How would you make that channel your own, so that you gain the rights to remove people from it?

Ghosth has a good point.  It would be cool if HTC were to allow a CO of a squad to reserve a numbered channel.  Then the CO (and anyone he appointed) would have the ability to eject a member from that channel with a dot command.  A CO should also be able to revoke the booting privliges he gives to squad members.  I realize that this would probably be difficult to add but it's a wishlist.

I know some people will just say use the squad vox channel but then others can't join a mission or just fly with a squad on vox.

If it is a mission then I would logically assume that all in mission are within radio range?  Or pick a vox channel for that mission only?

The other fix for this issue is to increase the maximum squad size from 32 so that split squads having to use a 1xx channel wouldn't happen.

This post made me laugh because Kazaa used to do  BFM's and me and mac would logon the next morning and have 2 or 3 squeakers on our in game vox.  With no admin rights the in game channels are powerless except squelching them.

Luckily we have our own ventrilo server 1) its way better and 2) they cant spy on our elite planes of mass destruction!
