It makes me wonder
« on: September 25, 2007, 12:53:39 AM »
This past weekend I was in the tower at a VB base on SmPizza and saw it was under attack by both ground and air.  Since no one was there I grabbed a Tiger and headed toward the maproom.

Panzers and M4's were firing at me, bombs were falling all around, troops were running and dying but I held on for 7 kills before a bomb took me out.

No problem, I immediately re-up and head back for the maproom.

Bombs are falling on me and shells are hitting the hangers.  I'm up to two kills then get tracked.  Worse yet, the low side is on the side the GV's are coming from and my engine is dead so I can't spin it around.  Then... a lull in the action so I tower out landing my two kills, re-up again and head back to my post.

This time a friendly is up in a Panzer.  Thank God, a little help.  Without ever speaking to one another I take the maproom side of the field and he takes the other side (vehicles can spawn in from both sides and soon they start to do so).

Pretty soon five M3's roll in from different directions, letting their troops go at once as I take a pounding from the air while simultaneously trying to take out an M4.  I end up killing all 50 troops.  Unfortunately the M3's are all pounding me with their .50's while I'm pre-occupied with the troops and the M4.  They track me and take out my engine again.  Then they end sortie giving me 5 proxies :) and I kill the M4.

When the smoke clears I land eleven more kills while my countryman lands seven.

So, I wonder what the radio coms where amongst these guys as they tried EVERYTHING to root out my Tiger and take this field.

to those who tried.  It was GREAT fun!

BTW, I got three more a few minutes later at the same base with a Ju-87 then they finally gave up.

For those who don't GV it really CAN be fun.

Any good GV stories lately?

Gee, sounds like a ton of fun. Wish I was there.

Earlier today I was climbing a hill to overlook and enemy spawn point in my Tiger. A8Balls is already up there in his tiger and I notice there's another tiger up near the top, but it's an enemy tiger. So, just screwing around, I start climbing straight up to him without a second thought. Half way there enemy gvs start shooting at me from the spawn and soon take my turret out. I think "Well might as well have a good laugh as I die" so I continue on to the tiger (all the while up the hill a P-38 keep shooting at me). I come over a lump on the side of the hill and come up behind the tiger, man I wish I still had my turret. The P-38 warns the tiger of me and somehow we end up going in circles on the side of the hill, all the while, enemy gvs are shooting at me from the spawn. Luckly A8Balls pops over the hill and blasts the enemy tiger and comment "Looked like you two were square dancing lol". I deceided my fun was over and ditched my tiger.

all whom were there, I had great fun.

Well, in general as a former Army guy, I love to GV it.

A few of my favorite things (in no particular order) are spawn camping, de-acking fields, and destroying aircraft with my main gun.  I guess my very favorite is GV hanger camping.  It is always a hoot when people keep upping from a camped hanger and you can kill the same guy sometimes 20+ times.  Its even better when your squaddies capture the field and you can land em' (doesn't always happen that way, but boy is it fun)

Getting dozens of kills vulching in an Osti while people complained on 200 about what an idiot I was. They kept upping, and I kept shooting. Good times.

My best night GV'ing was the night the B-26 came out.

I was defending a base with what seemed like 50 B-26's.  I was sitting in the town looking up at the spawn point WAY at the top of a hill.  I had the spawn ranged at about 3200 yards.  Osties were spawning to take out the 26's and I was taking out Osties one after the other.

I only landed 9 kills, but if assists counted for anything, I bet I got 15 or 20.

I think getting kills with the long shot my favorite thing.  If they are moving, even better :aok

I really don't know what my best night in a GV was. However, my most sensational was in this camp. Rockydog and I were defending a vbase that spawned to the HQ. We saw 2 cons on the radar but only one approached the base. It was a 262. It zoomed in and took out the ack with no problem and kept zooming n to s and back. On one trip through I aimed about 3k in front of him and turned my turret to check the maproom. Then RockyDog said hey his wing came off. I told him WTG, he said no you hit him. My Gosh that must had been a 3k or better hit. You couldnt even get his Icon he was out there so far. Sure enough after a few seconds he came to earth and I got the kill. Rock said he would land that one. So I turned to head to some cement and there was the goon letting out the troops. Got a proxy on the goon and killed some troops. I was sky high. That was clever work by the Knights just the same. If Rocky hadn't told me to land it they would have gotten the base. That was one dumb luck shot though. Poor Bloke, bet he couldn't believe it.
