Actually played the Demo online today. Was using the MLRS for about 2 hours and the AH-6 to scout behind the lines. Was also awesome to go in spectator mode.

One time I was zoomed down to the troop level and over watching a pair of Soviet SAMs mixed in with heavy arty. Then as the game was ending an A-10 comes in and you hear the burp of the gun.

It was over - I think I saved the replay but i'll check. It was memorable.

It's kinda lame, I D/Led it tried to do the training, but can't finish the training because I use a trackball mouse that doesn't have a middle mouse button.

While in training you have to complete each step to go on to the next, because I can't "pan" around using the middle mouse button, there is no way for me to complete the training.

You would think they would give you the option to skip something like that, but I guess not.

Yea I can do all the key combo's it asks you to do, but after that it tells you to pan around using the "third" mouse button. I don't need that option, because when using a trackball you can easily pan anywhere you want effortlessly.

So it's not like I can't look around, but because I can't do it the way the game wants me to do it, I can't continue on with the training. I can still play the game, but I have to figure out how to do everything with out the training.

As far as the mouse goes, I'm very happy with my mouse. I've had $50 dollar wireless mice before and I always go back to my el chepo $19.00 Logitech trackball. IMO it's the best gaming mouse that's ever been made.

Got it and tried it.

Very nice graphics and action. The modern Command and Conquer.

I do not like however, how they make the whole thing be like an arcade. LOS and cover really dont do squat. The old Close Combat series at least took that into consideration.

The AI needs a lot of work still. Half the time I find myself telling a tank to shoot the enemy tank 10m in FRONT of it because he is too busy shooting the truck behind that tank. UGH!

Infantry is like Command and Conquer... cannon fodder that is barely useful (the AT inf though.. very nice!).

the reinforcement system, albeit nice, is quite annoying. I dont have time to shop my units because the game is too busy launching ungodly waves of targets (cant call them enemies because thats what they are.. target. a whole column of hostile troop transport rushing my 3 tanks head on.. several times. LAME).

Crockett I own 3 of those trackballs.

One at work, two at home. They are awesome :) . I switched to trackballs many years ago to beat OOS problems.

Anyhoo, World in Conflict. I just fired this up, OMG.... not only is it pretty but it works in Stereo 3D... I was dribbling over it last night it looked so good.

Finished it last night on the Normal difficulty. Its damn hard even on that. Ending was fitting, having a Sony Discman blasting Whitesnakes "Here I go again on my own."

I used to blast that on a little Fisher Price box I carried around with me. Memories.

It looks very nice, but the AI is the same dumb that should've already faced extinction by the laws of darwin. Evolution apparently doesn't affect the AI.

I got it too and just had time to sit down and play it this week.  I went through on Easy first and had a few setbacks on that.  I can't even imagine what hard is going to be like.  Either way, I liked the storyline a whole lot and the cinematics were great.  I haven't even attempted online play.  I'd imagine that its very well done as well.

The hard setting is just more waves of enemy troops being thrown at you to destroy and shorter periods in between the waves.

I've finished the demo using only infantry, using only armor, using only the tanks you get as reinforcement+support fire....

Its really just a matter of playing the same ol' placing your AT units in the incoming path of the endless waves of enemy armor and you'll win.

The problem is the missions are scripted and the AI is set to 'shoot at player's target' no matter what they are. I'd say that if they put the AI from Close Combat into that game it'd be great.
