Quote
Squad Operations events are Squad based single life events setup around a historical conflicts from 1938 to 1945 and in all theatres of operations.

Squad Operations has always been a 1-life event with the exception of certain planes in certain setups, ie b5ns in a mid to late PTO setup.  When the rules state 1 life, it is meant as 1 plane or bomber formation.  If you somehow find yourself outside of your virtual plane at any point in the frame, you are done flying for the night.  You can choose to join another plane and watch/gun for them.
