The IRS wants to give me money!
« on: January 05, 2008, 08:33:10 PM »
Just got an email from the IRS (yeah right) that they want to give me money, I guess I am a lucky guy.

Here is the email:

After the last annual calculations of your fiscal activity we have determined that you are eligible to receive a tax refund of $129.53.
Please submit the tax refund request and allow us 3-6 days in order to
process it.

A refund can be delayed for a variety of reasons.
For example submitting invalid records or applying after the deadline.

According to the email, it came from "services@irs.orq", but anyone even slightly familiar with government emails and websites knows that the IRS uses a ".gov" extension.

They provide a link that I am sure will ask private information or somehow allow them to steal your money.

So, be warned of another scam that looks even better than the Nigerian scam, and sadly will undoubtedly steal a ton of money from unsuspecting people.

I'd challenge it. They're obviously trying to buy you off. ;)

Yeah - suspicious e-mail. :(

Thanks for the heads up. I would have been suspicious but I don't think I would have been looking at the .gov thingy.

Report it to the IRS and feel sorry for the poor moron that started that letter. I'd much rather piss off the FBI or the Secret Service than the IRS.

I should be a billionaire with all the lottery tickets I have won in England. I get one every other week or so asking me to send them info so they can wire my winnings to my bank account.

I also get ALOT of emails from people that have money in forgotten accounts in Europe or Africa that they want to share with me. All I have to do is cash in a check and send them a portion of the money in return.

The best one was when I recieved an email from Chase bank with the logo saying they needed to verify my account info and to send them an eamil reply with my account number. I don't even have an account with them. Needless to say I sent it to my brother whose an I.C.E agent and he sent it on down the chain. Would love to see what happens when theytry to collect. hehe

3 to 6 days to process?

The IRS couldn't process anything in 3 to 6 months!

Dead giveaway right there.
