Rabaul, like Truk, her sister citadel in the Carolines, was destined to be by-passed by our invasion forces, but would be completely cleared of all air and naval power in the process. There were many strikes carried out against Rabaul; the most bloddy of all probably being that of 2 November 1943. Intelligence reported Simpson Harbor to be packed with ships. General Kenney put nine B-25 squadrons (all straffers) and six covering squadrons of P-38 into the air and headed them out for Rabaul.

You gents actually using the B25H or keeping it to the B25C strafers as it would have been?

I'd love to take the Headhunters to cover them.  Work may get in the way though.

Rabaul is always the one I want to fly since the fights there were so wicked, and the 38 drivers of the 39th FS, 80th FS and the 475th FG really earned their pay.

Lots of losses though, Danny Roberts, Porky Cragg among others.  Tough to lose leaders like those guys.

This will be played today and if the B-25C was the actual plane used, then it will be used in this snapshot too.
At least if the C is available, i really don't have a clue :)

Yep it was the early C Strafers.  H's were later.

Sure wish I wasn't at work for this one.  I can hear my 80th Headhunter 38G screaming at me to fly to cover those 25s :)
