I have been flying without one for almost a year.

Last week I finally got a mic.

I feel that it adds to the situational awareness , and has answered a few game questions I have had.

I had used one from day one and my mic went dead for a week. i tried to play but it was to frustrating trying to type in a fight and tell people enemy positions and what not.

You only thought. Different bases = no communication on channel 3
But you can read people 200miles away if they upped from same field.

The "Room" (not "Range"!!) channel is one of the most misunderstood features in AH.

I'm not a squaddie; I fly solo.  I tried a couple difrnt squads.  Vox chatter too much, I usually turned it down a notch.  I prefer to type unless heat of battle needs vox input.  My mic is always ready to go; I just don't usually use it.  The other thing I don't like about squads is stoopid assignments gets one killed too much.
