Bomber re-fueling w/ formation?
« on: October 19, 2007, 10:16:20 AM »
How do you re-arm bombers & keep your formation when you take off?

A squaddie of mine landed his B-26 ¾ of the way down the runway, & when he was taxing to the re-arming pad his drones did not move, he took off when the 30 sec. re-fueling was finished and the drones did not follow.

Is that a glitch or is there something we are missing?  [scratches head in confusion]

I never go on two flights in one sortie with bombers, usually one sortie kills everything. I think once you land then that's it, your drones won't come back up again.

Yep, I've never tried re-arming buffs either but from what I understand the drones stay on the ground after landing.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

Yes, me as well; But we are doing this in a scenario and we have one life & are able to re-arm.

You can do it as a single but you'll leave formations sitting on field.

As such they will be sitting ducks as they will sit there till you die, or return and exit.

Its just the way it is, there is no way to rearm the drones. They stay just where they stopped when you landed.

For landing I advise not dropping gear till you are low, slow and actually OVER the runway, drones will dump gear and drop right in. Full flaps and slow they'll hold formation, but once both flaps & gear is out they go into line astern for landing. If you do this a half mile short of base they may end up off the base.

The other option would be once all 3 are down to bail out. Leaving you in the drone 1, bailing out again would put you in drone 2. Where you could rearm and takeoff again.

For a sceneario either the CM is going to have to reopen fields so the bombers can exit and reroll. Or you won't have drones for the second trip.

OK....Here's what really happens.

You can re-arm bombers but you cannot roll as a formation again....period.

Assuming you have landed all nice and proper your drones will sit on the runway.  You can taxi to the re-arm pad and take off again.  The drones will just sit where they landed.  If however after take off, your bomber then crashes or gets shot down you appear as if by magic in a refueled fully armed drone on the runway.......FACT.  Try it in the MA if you doubt my word....some do

For scenarios unless only singles allowed, I would expect they would let you roll a brand new set once they had proof of you landing.  CM in god mode type thing.
