New X52 coming - now what?
« on: October 19, 2007, 09:21:11 PM »
I've got a new x52 coming in with a new system which has Vista as its OS.  (I know, but I couldn't get xp with that deal.)  Assuming I can get Vista operating with everything else, and the game loaded, do I download the Beta drivers from Saitek, calibrate in Windows, then calibrate in the game?  I'm also figuring I can mess with SST at any time after downloading the beta for it from Saitek, right?  Also, it sounds as if the profiles off the Beta SST will end in .pro rather than .dat.  Does that mean I can't download and use profiles ending in .dat?  Thanks for all the help so far - particularly Lt Clark's write up.  I'm sure I'll be back.

If you are going to be using the beta version of SST software you won't be able to use the .dat profiles.

FWIW.....I've been using Saitek stuff for a few years. I'm tired of the quality/durability issues with Saitek equipment and am going to go to CH stuff soon.

as good as the programming options are in AH now, I do not use the SST software to program my X52.
It is one less application/process the needs to run.

Thanks.  I've been on the Saitek forum and have seen your problems Elfie.  I almost didn't it, but really can't afford the CH stuff now.  Thanks, Eagler, I've been wondering about that.  Can you program the shift (pinkie switch) function and the trim wheels in AH?

Never again would I buy Saitek. Ive had nothing but problems with it, and most of all with the SST software. I still either cant map a bunch of stuff or cant map it in more then one profile. In other words my fighter airplane stuff will map and work in the bomber profile but wont in a fighter profile. Its actually a big reason I almost never fly fighters cause I cant get a bunch of stuff to map, including some views.

They have had the same lousy Beta Vista drivers and SST version out since May and still haven't upgraded it. And the rudder pedals I have??? They are always locking up on me and forcing me to take them apart to unstick them.

I would never recommend this stuff to anyone.

I've been using an X52 for a year now with no major glitches.  I also use the SST (not beta) and have had no issues getting things to map properly.

the rotors sre no problem. I use the pinkie switch for wep on/off so not sure about the options there. I know you can setup the 3 modes in the AH programming.

clerick, do you run sst with VISTA or XP?  I ask because the beta drivers are supposed to be for VISTA.
