trying to setup automated recording (X52)

My goal, is to be able to have the film recorder start filming when the trigger is pulled, and have it automatically stop ~5 seconds after the trigger is released.

I KNOW this can be done in the Saitek programming software. i just cant figure out HOW to do it..

any ideas?

Question is... Why?

If I think i am about to get into a fight that is worth filming i hit the record button and let it go. After the fight is done and someone is dead I stop it. Too much can happen before the trigger is ever pulled that "could" be worthy of filming. I was always more interested in seeing what happened before the shot was fired, or even how I got to where I was able to take a shot, than the actual shot its self.

It would be an "Advanced Command". I know you can do macro's that run for several seconds, but I think you have to keep the button held down while the macro runs. If you can set the button press to be instantaneous, you're going to wind up with hundreds of films every week. Why not just map Alt R to a button and toggle the film at will?

pull trigger again, film stops.

I don't see this working out.

far better to do as suggested and just map alt R to a button so you can stop/start it when you want it.

I have the X52 Pro, and I belive the primary Trigger is setup the same was as the X52 in that it has two actual clicks.  Depending on your plane setup, I'd imagine you could to with the first click active recorder second click fire, with a delay to deactivate recorder.  Not sure exactly how you'd do it, but I think you can also set it up with a first click macro active recorder for maybe... 3-5 seconds then deactive recorder.  That's probably the best way to do it if you actually use the trigger to shoot.  (I fly cannon planes more than MG planes, so I use the flip/fire button on top primarily because it has a safety catch I have a habit of accidentally pressing buttons.)

The trouble with this, though, would be that if you don't keep your film folder nice and clean, you're gonna end up with a lag spike right as you fire that could severely jack up your ability to shoot something down.

did the search, couldent locate it, i did run across the java guncam program, but cant get it to work either.. it starts etc eetc, but when i exit AH the program is frozen and nothing is saved

Looking at advanced commands I reckon


in the press line you want something like

[alt][r][R][ ALT]  to start your camera

in the repeat line you want

[f][F] to fire your gun

in the release line you want

[alt][r][R][ALT] to stop your camera


Then you need to fiddle with the timings so that  alt r  imitates the key strokes when switching on/off and also delays off a bit. Plus you will need to fiddle with the fire timings such that it looks like a constant  key press that AH can pick up

Thera re far better things to map the trigger to, like guns, lol, but go for it if you want. When you map a 2 button command, and if macro doesnt work, try first pressing alt, and with alt still down press R. Then release both. It should map. I never got any of my 2 botton commands to map with macro.
