The Legend Returns

Since we've had this airplane discussed at length in these boards, I know there are a lot of fans out there. So...

I am pleased to announce that the world's only remaining Me 262 B-1c two seat trainer has been completed and put on display for the first time on April 5th.  Its incredibly gratifying to have worked on this airplane and to finally see it in its completely and historically original form.

The colors and the paint scheme were recreated from the original drawings and paint color specs.  It is accurate right down the warning symbols and markings.  Look for more photos soon at this sight.

For many years, this 262 sat outside NAS Willow Grove where time and weather took its toll.  The wings and much of the original steel fuselage sections were rebuilt due to the severe corrosion encountered during the restoration.  The good news is that folks will be able to see it soon.  This airplane will be flown by an Air Force transport to McChord AFB in June for display in their Open House/Airshow.  Immediately afterward, it will be flown in a C-17 to its final destination, the Naval Flight Museum in Pensacola, FL.

(No, thats not me in the right hand photo.  That is the head of Classic Fighters Industries, Bob Hammer.  Classic Fighters completed the restoration at Paine Field, Everett WA.)

Enjoy!

Okay, MiG Eater, I only live 45 minutes from Everett, so I'm going to have to come by and see this thing.  When's a good time?  I'm free, days, on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.
