Is my LCD monitor poked?
« on: November 08, 2007, 04:11:51 AM »
My Philips 109B has started playing up, it randomly turns itself on, and sometimes won't turn on at all. The front panel buttons don't seem to work properly, they all seem to act as 'auto' adjustment buttons. When the PC is off and it turns itself on it sometimes displays a white screen with red text saying "aging". Is it poked or what?

Philips products have a very short lifespan. I guess it's 'aging'. :huh

I've learned to skip anything from 'philips' brand because they usually disappoint you sooner or later. Spend $50 more, it's worth it.

Vulcan,

Does it make use of an external power supply. If so, have you tested the voltages with a meter?

If it has two inputs (DVI and VGA, for example) does switching inputs make any difference?

If it's an internal supply, it sounds knackered to me.

It was a freebie mripley, but I think it has a 3 year onsite warranty so I should be covered.

llama: internal PSU, inputs doesn't seem to make a difference.

Yeah actually I did, without leaving any bruises.

Its on its way back to a service agent (they have an 'onsite' warranty where a courier comes and takes it away for further beatings).
