There is an interesting truth to that diagram. As a programmer I've found that at roughly that amount of alcoholic intake I have strokes of genius (tend to do a lot of work at home off-hours). A lot of my co-workers were also drinkers and have agreed that they tend to have inspiring moments after 3-4 beers as well.

Of course, strokes of genius say nothing about the code being bug free, but the comments you'll find in the source later on tend to be worth the price of admission. ;)

What really happens is that after so much alcohol you have flashes of brilliance and insight, but you're too tipsy to write it all down, and the next day you're trying to remember what it was that was so brilliant, and for some reason, you can't remember what it was, but you're absolutely sure it was effing brilliant.  It's like magic or something.  :-)

Actually a lot of my stuff does happen to get written down on drink napkins but it's rare when I can actually read the writing in the morning ;)
