I have been working on a warping problem for nearly a year with no success until now. I am not a computer Guru.
My problem was a consistent skip on the screen every three seconds and then a very bad warp at the point of enemy contact which was frustrating for both players. No furballing possible. One memorable instance had me 400 off his six then I warped to 200 ahead of him and shortly flaming into the ground. The variance would jump to +/- 1 each skip.
The final solution was in the Vista Power settings. You can choose from Energy Star, Power Saver or High Performance. SET IT TO HIGH PERFORMANCE!
Lastly, my story involved Comcast "Support"/Geek Squad/new routers/new video card/reconfiguring Vista to Skuzzy's specs/ scouring the forums and untold hours and hours of tweaking/frustration (and death). I will not go into the dollar$. I had deduced the power issue long ago but Geek squad said my power supply was more than adequate. I stumbled onto a post here that made me aware of the power settings and bingo!
Thank everyone for your help along the way!
