Human spirit, endurance

I used to be a competitive cyclist, and I keep checking up on race results, etc.

There's a 10 day off-road race in Australia called the Crocodile trophy.  Mixture of fire roads, gravel roads, 'real' offroad, etc through the Australian outback.  1234 kilometers or 765 miles in 10 days.  Brutal temperatures, dust, and hills.

This guy did it on a hand cycle:

After another recent thread about human health struggles, I'll never feel sorry for myself again.

That's cool.  I bike about an average of 2500km per year and I'm sure I'd never be able to do that in 10 days!

That’s just amazing.
The Sadler's Alaska Challenge is longest wheelchair & handcycle race (only) in the world at 267 miles in seven days.  This race you’re talking about is almost three times as long and only three days more to do it in…  Wow!  The Alaska one is pretty much all highways as well.  I’ve seen part of it many times; it started in the mid 80’s.

I biked 30 miles after work on Tuesday.  The Saturday before last I did 62 miles; that pretty much kicked my butt.
