Military Commissions Act is a bummer

You probably didn't see anything about this on the local news, but here's an FYI for ya...

President Bush declared US soil a battleground in the war on terror and did away with posse comitatus...enacted by wiser smarter leaders in 1878.

The Military Commissions Act (MCA) effectively does away with habeas corpus rights as well for “any person” arbitrarily deemed to be an “enemy of the state.” Who exactly is an "enemy of the state", or an "enemy combatant”?.. that definition is solely at the discretion of Bush.. or maybe Hillery & Bubba Clinton.

Bush did away with the oldest human right defined in the history of English-speaking civilization; the right to challenge governmental power, arguably the most critical part of the Magna Carta... and nobody cared.

Section 950q of the MCA states: “Any person is punishable as a principal under this chapter of the MCA who commits an offense punishable by this chapter, or aids, abets, counsels, commands, or procures its commission.”

Note "any person", which means US citizens.

Section 950v. “Crimes Triable by Military Commissions” states “Any person subject to this chapter who, in breach of an allegiance or duty to the United States, knowingly and intentionally aids an enemy of the United States, or one of the co-belligerents of the enemy, shall be punished as a military commission under this chapter may direct.”

Section 950j states that once a person is detained, “ not withstanding any other provision of law (including section 2241 of title 28 or any other habeas corpus provision) no court, justice, or judge shall have jurisdiction to hear or consider any claim or cause of action whatsoever relating to the prosecution, trial, or judgment of a military commission under this chapter, including challenges to the lawfulness of procedures of military commissions.”

Welcome to Bushs neoclown land where US citizens cant even challenge "..the lawfulness of procedures of military commissions..".. it may be illegal & unconstitutional, but you cant challenge the word of king George... or soon to be Queen Clinton.

How about the "knowingly and intentionally aids an enemy of the United States" part, is protesting considered "aid"? or cutting military funds? what is the definition of "aid" I wonder? I suppose it depends on the mood of King George or Queen Hillery.

Actually Xmarine this goes all the way back to the Nixon admin. (FEMA) and every consecutive admin after. Vote Ron Paul and all of this goes away, not your civil liberties.

You must be too young to remember when we were an agrarian society.  We produced most of our own goods... and they lasted for decades!  
We had Pride in the country, the military and our communities...

Now we import ****e from China with lead in the paint, and other items that last maybe a year to five TOPS!  We even imported something like 25 million chickens from China to sell at the markets and KFC!  What, we don't have enough chicken in this country already that we gotta import from a still hostile country?

I'm cool with people here thinking I'm a foilheaded conspiracy nut and all that... the thing I wonder is how some of you dudes are not concerned about the loss of not just one staple of the American way, but two... Ignorance is bliss I suppose.

Th now deceased Posse Comitatus of 1878 Act reads in part:
“Whoever, except in cases and under circumstances expressly authorized by the Constitution or Act of Congress, willfully uses any part of the Army or Air Force as a posse comitatus or otherwise to execute the laws shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.”

Under Bushs law, that old ratty piece of paper and the opinions of the drunks in Congress are now irrelevant... and so is that of your Governor. And under the MCA, the legality of all this can't even be challenged... it gives the president, literally, the power Kings used to enjoy.

The thought of Clinton / Bush people with all this power motivated me to make sure my passport was good to go.

Ron Paul gets my vote simply because he'll erase this BS and restore some constitutional sanity.

333 of the JWDA “Major public emergencies; interference with State and Federal law,”, and states that “the President may employ the armed forces, including the National Guard in Federal service —to restore public order and enforce the laws of the United States when, as a result of a natural disaster, epidemic, or other serious public health emergency, terrorist attack or incident, or other condition in any State or possession of the United States, the President determines that domestic violence has occurred to such an extent that the constituted authorities of the State or possession are incapable of (or “refuse”???) maintaining public order—in order to suppress, in any State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy.”
