I traded this:

for this last Saturday:

When I got the Red CJ7 last year my son loved it. Well, I torpedoed the Number 5 connecting rod and replaced the AMC 304 that was in it. Spent a few weekends doing the swap. My son then was intimidated by it.

Now I've always wanted a LWB Jeep and this 95 ZJ (Grand Cherokee) is already loved by him. He longer wants to "take daddy's car", he now wants to go everywhere "in daddy's Jeep".

The ZJ is on a 3" suspension lift and 31" Interco Trxus M/T's. I'll be putting 32" tires on it next year. It is a Canadian Jeep with 351,000 km's on it (215,000 miles?). The engine is a straight 6. The engine isn't even broken in yet.

This ZJ will be a challenge to wheel. Now, I can take my son wheeling.

Its common knowledge that the 94 and 95 Jeep Grand Cherokees have very poor reliability. So many parts on them break before 100,000 miles that its rediculous. Keep us updated on how yours runs.

There is 215,000 on the original engine. There is a very minor valve cover leak, which will be addressed next weekend with a $15 gasket.

My brother also can get me free parts as he works for a very large Auto Shop that buys and strips cars from auctions.

Hey Karaya, Check the valve cover bolts' to see if they've been unscrewed-That might be evidence that some parts of the top end have had work/removal. It might indicate some work done of a serious nature(Valve job,or some other kind of head work.) Sometimes people overtorque the valve cover bolts' putting it back on when they're buttoning everything back up.

I had a 95 Grand Cherokee Laredo in that same color. At 120,000 miles the transmission went out. At 140,000 the Water Injection Pump went out. Never had any troubles with the engine itself.
Handled GREAT in Ice/Snow/Mud.
As long as you take care of it, it's a great car.

I moved from the Mountains to Columbia, so no longer need 4 wheel drive. Bought a 2007 Nissan Sentra.

I know a guy who wheels a 97 with a 318 in it on 33s. It kicks ass, but it has broken down a few times on him.
