I switched to Knight from Rook tonight. My first sortie ever as a knight was very successful; I landed 5 kills in a 190A5, one of which was causing a pony to auger (outmaneuvering him to the point, not just happening to be in the area). Got some more kills in the 190 and 109k afterwards.
Eventually, the bishops pushed us back to the base I was operating from (21) and nailed our FH's. So, I up an Il2 and start ho'ing everyting in sight (hey, its an Il2). I go to ho an LA (which, I figured, would be easy, cause, how can an LA resist a ho?). To my surprise, the LA pulls up, and we initiate low- level turn fight. This is when I unleash my secret weapon. Full flaps out on my Il2. Throttle almost chopped, on the edge of a stall (I am PUSHING this thing). To the LA pilots surprise, I am not only keeping with him, I am OUT-TURNING his LA5. Of course, he through WEP on and got the hell outa there (I would have done the same thing), and then a mossie got me from behind. I upped another sortie in the Il2, got an A20 smoking, and then the hangars popped and I went back out in my 109 and 190.
I was sorta surprised myself, though, at how tightly I was turning that Il2. The thing really is a monster. If it were faster, Id take it as my normal ride. But, of course, once anyone decides the fights over, they can easily get outta guns range.
to KayGB for being a good sport when I outturned his LA instead of screaming 'BS!' on 200.
