My grandfather was a waist gunner on a B-24J "Shoot the Works" in the Pacific. He joined in '42 and was in combat by '43. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross while participating in the bombings of Iwo Jima. He is also documented on film shooting down two Zeros. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to locate this film anywhere.
