Large scale replicas?
« on: November 13, 2007, 08:36:30 PM »
I few years ago someone posted a link to a place that sold, for very high prices replica aircraft from WW2.

Like huge, replicas, and detailed built very much like the real thing, working controls.

they sold them for 5 to 15k,   I think they may have been as large as 1/4 scale.

They did a spit, a 109, a 51, a corsair, a P-38 and a b-25 and B-17.

The website had like 10, to 15 pics of each.

Anyone have a link or any idea?

I searched on google for a long time and go nothing.  I KNOW it was posted here at least once. But I can't find it here either.

Search on the word 'replica' and you'll get a few pages.

Here's one of them:

Nope, those were mostly flying replicas.

THIS, is what I was talking about. I remembered, they had Fine in their name.

So I found them with a search for Fine Model lol.

Fine Art Models.

It really amazes me that there aren't any companies reproducing real warbirds at military spec. It's not like the planes are overly complicated, seems to me a company could make some good money selling top quality flying reproductions.

Well, if you want the real thing, there seems to be a market....

As well as production ;)
Want one of those?

Or go jet?

Or something cheaper?
(not full scale, but cuuuute)

It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

the market for restored ww2 ac sure seems healthy. this superb spit vb was recently restored in auckland with it's first flight only in september. should be on its way to it's new owner in the u.s, if it aint already there yet.

What most of us want to do is simply shoot stuff and look good doing it - Chilli
