Looking for a game for a kid - parents advice?
« on: November 14, 2007, 11:22:37 AM »
I'm looking for a pc game to buy for a 10yr old girl. She likes games that let her dress up the characters like they were dolls and that she can move around a lot...sort of like the Sims but she already has that game and she's bored with it (too much management of the sims, too little dress-up options / no adventure elements).

And she considers the barbie and bratz games to be too kiddie'ish for her.

Ive been looking around the net but cant seem to find any.

I think she's looking for something that has the outfit options of Star Wars Galaxies (she loved that game playing as a musician+dancer+image designer ..there was the dress-up element and the music fun and she could still go out and shoot lil' critters).

Any parents around here have a suggestion?

If you find one let me know.  My little one is such a girly girl when she wants to be.  She loves clothes and will try on outfit after outfit, mixing and matching each one.

Then her brother will say something she doesn't like.  Seconds later the brother will be in tears.

She is only 3...almost 4.
Some will fall in love with life and drink it from a fountain that is pouring like an avalanche coming down the mountain

Mines 11, she is really into Zoo Tycoon and Webkinz.  I'll check with her this evening and see what the rest of her favs are.  Oh, and she has her computer right next to mine, she doesn't get online without my eyeballs all over her screen :)

Nothing clever here.  Please, move along.

I've got 3 sons, so I can't speak to the dress-up bit.

For a 10 year old, though, the I-Spy PC games are hours of fun.  There's a huge variety of those available ~ all are completely wonderful.  Our favorite is the Treasure Hunt ... with Spooky Mansion a close 2nd.

I dunno if it's released yet, but what about http://www.spore.com

might not be girly enough, but who knows she might like it. It's supposed to be the next big thing like Sims was.
