Here is mine during prime time in my area.  seems I get great ping time till I hit ATT where it jumps to 60+ (nothing to sneeze at) but with a hick up at the end at HTC.

I think your 100% packet loss on first and second hop is due to settings in your modem/router.  I believe the setting is Block Anonymous Internet Requests (ping).  Most modems/ routers, u can disable this and then will able to get a ping.

The common thread here is Level3.  Kilz, your problems ar all over the map, but primarily they are at the two gatewways into and out of Level3's network.  You need to contact your ISP about it and I need to contact AT&T as well.

Last hop, again, does not mean much.  It can, but it genrally means the return trip has a problem.  I need to trace to yours AKDogg to get the answer, but I see Level3 in the path, so I am pretty sure where the problem is going to lie.

I have been experiencing a lot of frame freezing lately and have been trying to figure out what is the source of the problem.  I pay for “true high speed” if there is such a thing, just to run this game and don't feel that I am getting the performance I should.  I had a service tech from sudden link over last Saturday to check everything out.  He put a new cable from wall to modem and ran a speed test which yielded download speeds of 8300kbps and upload speeds of 535kbps.  He said that these were a bit above average although I am still experiencing some lag or frame freezes during game play.  I have looked at and updated my graphics card drivers and have even thought of adding another 2 gigs of memory to see if it would help.  I am pretty much at a loss as how to fix this problem as I grasp only the basic understanding of computers :( I found this thread and decided to run a ping plotter to see what the results would be.  Can anyone tell me what this means??

Here is what I have.  Maybe there is a problem with my set up.  I installed the graphics card and new power supply myself.

That's no moon!

I think it means the problem is your entire ISP, and all of ATT (which is ISP for the server) but I'd wait for Skuzzy to comment just to be sure.

Wow, that is ugly.  I hope you have sent that to your ISP.

I already have a trouble ticket filed with AT&T concerning XO, but you need to hit them from your side sa your ISP is having a lot of trouble itself.

I just spoke with sudden link and they want me to run another trace using the command function.  I asked if I could send the shots from ping plotter but they said they cannot recieve them.

I was told that if the numbers from the first 7 lines of the trace look right then there was nothing they nor anyone else could do about it.  :(

thanks again and i will post the data from the trace in a few

Ping Plotter has an option to save the data as text.

And the first 7 hops do not look right at all.

i told them about the text but they said they do not have an email to recieve the it. i did read the first several lines to them but he wanted me to run the trace from my computer.

I just ran the trace and spoke with another tech who said the problem was not my computer but something on their end.  I now have another service tech coming tomorrow:rolleyes: and i'm starting to feel like i just jumped on a merry go round but maybe he can do something.....if it is not my computer what can a service tech accomplish by coming to my house?

IF you are SUDDENLINK customer, pingplotter and other pinging programs WILL NOT work correctly.

long story short the server kicks back any pinging from 3rd party programs.

if you want to do a ping test to check for packet loss

go to the RUN menu (XP) type CMD and hit enter

type: ping (address) -n(the number of times you want to ping)

leave out the ( of couse

EDIT: I work for them, thats how  I know.

Why?

Curious...

Apparently, one in five people in the world are Chinese. And there are five people in my family, so it must be one of them. It's either my mum or my dad. Or my older brother, Colin. Or my younger brother, Ho-Chan-Chu. But I think it's Colin. - Tim Vine.
