:rofl  I like it!
Do not attribute to malice what can be easily explained by incompetence, fear, ignorance or stupidity, because there are millions more garden variety idiots walking around in the world than there are blackhearted Machiavellis.

My wife recommended that I send this in to Break; we’ve seen much worse on their front page and they pay $400 if they decide to put it there.  So I registered and uploaded the clip.  I don’t know how many thumbs up it needs to get there, but give it one if you have an account, please.  For those of you who couldn’t get the clip to load, try the one at Break; it’s a smaller resolution, but much faster download:

Cute clip. The wife says that Brigitta has a future in acting! :D  :aok
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Just a pencil.

This is based on my memory of high school physics:
From the film editor I saw that it was 7.6 seconds from the blast to the touchdown; that means 3.8 seconds up and 3.8 seconds down.  Acceleration due to gravity is 9.8 M/S squared, or 32 fps squared.  That means that at the end of one second of free fall an object is traveling 32 fps, but at the beginning it was 0, so its average speed was 16 fps, so it fell 16 feet in the first second.  At the end of the second it was going 64 fps, but started at 32 fps so its average speed during the second second of free fall was 48 fps.
That’s 16 feet in the first second, 48 in the second, 80 in the third and 86 in the last 0.8 seconds (rounded).  16+48+80+86=230  Assuming that I remember HS physics correctly after nearly a quarter century…

More quickly...

You could have calculated it directly from this..

S = 1/2 A T**2   A = 32.2 ft/sec/sec  (9.8 m/sec/sec)

S is distance..    1/2 x  32  x  (3.8)**2

Since I am lazy, I will call it 4 seconds...

1/2 x  32   x    4**2  =   16 * 16 = 256 feet high, so your 230 is probably right.  You just did it the hard way.

Of course, this assumes she didn't slow down due to wind resistance....

Also, V = AT   so she was moving at  V = 32 * 4 = 128 feet per second, or 87 mph, when she hit the ground.

I am available for all forms of math, science, physics, and engineering solutions   :)
