If you have speakers plugged into the back at the same time, you'll get left side sound from the speakers and right side from the headphones, or vice-versa.

is a gateway and thank you for mentioning that there may be a conflict between front and rear jacks. I have now tested this and found that it switches to front jacks when plugged in and turns off the speakers which are plugged into back.

thanks

Don't go with the Turtle Beach X52 headphone/microphone combo...
Had mine for about 4 months or so, cost about $70 when I got them and now the mic is shot.  The mic is able disconnect and now when I plug it in all I get is a high pitch feedback and the mic no longer works.  They sound great but have come to find out this is a very common problem with them.  Oh well, back to the cheapo's!  My favorite type..... wait my wife didn't see that did she!  :noid

I paid about $70 two years ago for a pair of LTB brand surround sound headphones, that connect through USB.  They sound absolutely fantastic, and come with a microphone that I've never had a problem with.  The 5.1 surround is absolutely amazing, sounds just like (if not better) than an expensive surround sound setup, that only I can hear!

It's wild to be able to hear where the enemy GV is and how far away, without having to actually see him!

And since they are their own "sound card", I have the on-board sound disabled in my Aces High II hardware profile, to open up those resources.  I'm not a huge sound fanatic, and can't justify the price for a separate Audigy or soundblaster or whatever card, as I think for everything else the onboard sound is just fine.

I have only three problems with mine.

1>  The drivers on their website are the wrong drivers and cause AH to crash (they are for the new generation headphones, but mine are the old ones... after some digging I found the correct drivers and have no issues here now)

2>  There is a bad wire for the right side and if you bend the wire just right, the sound kicks in and out.  This is not a fault of the headphones though.. more so from me rolling over the cord with my desk chair one too many times.

3>  One of the headphone adjusters is broken, but I can't even tell once I'm wearing them.  This is probably my fault as well from chucking these across the room after getting shot down by someone named "EZTARGET".. haha

Anyways though.. these have held up surprisingly well considering the amount of abuse I've put them through.
