FW can be a fun one to fly.

:(  I think I was one of those.

I saw 190 gaining on my 6, and I was in a pretty good turning plane pony b, nik or p40 I forget.  I decided at 800 out to scissor and then break hard left, that was about the time I saw my cockpit light up bright red:eek:  and then the black curtain.   I gave Lute compliment on how well he handled 190 turning so well.  :aok

Then I logged and ran off to work (guess it was good he shot me down, I was actually on time).

I guess this is a reminder that a good pilot familliar with his plane makes the threat what it really is.

LOL, and another interesting point. The Butcher Bird isn't normally an airplane that newbies jumped into. Those that fly it, indeed most German birds, are mostly guys with a lot of air time and that's just a different kinda critter to fight entirely.

I know my kill sheets reflects that. I pretty much chew up the spits, LaLas, 51s...ect that noobs tend to fly but it doesn't look as pretty against airplanes the more established biff killers jump into.

Oi! Thats the left wing too! I thought I was special for landing my 190 with its right wing missing... but in that flight, torque was on my side... I cant imagine flying with the torque counteracting your efforts...

Of all the planes I've flown in AH when I had a subscription none were more fun than the 190.  Plus it looks damn good on me.

If you can do it with the right, you can do it with the left.

It's a bit harder with the torque, as you said, but it's the same idea, you just need to use more rudder and be more careful when you're landing, if you lose speed and start to drop a wing, adding throttle any other way than very gently will roll you right over before you can do anything about it.

I was incredibly lucky with those B-17s, the screenshot doesn't show that I was climbing with almost full rudder input. I didn't have much speed left so I was lucky to get the shot off when I did.

I don't think the pilot was watching me either, I think he thought I'd bugged out or ditched.

He soon figured out I was there when he caught on fire :lol so, I went home.
