ow and loved the last one :D

Ah HA!  Now we get to the crux of the matter.

The "winning the war" attitude has, over the years, become the "norm" and many (dare I say most) THINK that the point of AcesHigh is "winning the war", and that's just too bad.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE a good base capture.  If i'm in a mission attacking a field and bad guy's start upping i'm thinking "Whoo Hoo! now the fun begins!"  Base captures are just THAT much sweeter when it's even odds and well defended.

So anyway, what he have now is players flying around in massive hoards overwhelming and capturing field after field chasing the goal of the all mighty "Reset".

The sad bit is that in the process these players never figure out how to "fight" worth a crud and end up being ezy kills for those that did.  They miss out on what is the BEST part of AcesHigh, and that's the Aerial Combat.

Let's say me and 8 other people are defending a field vs. 20+ bad guys who are dying in  droves wave after wave and EVENTUALLY get the capture off raw numbers alone.

Sure they got the base.

I landed 30+ kills vs. no or 1-2 deaths.

Who reallly won there?.

Bombers, GV's, base captures, resets, they are but mere "sideshows".

(somebody dig up the quote from HiTech where he states that if you think AcesHigh is about "winning the war" you would be sadly mistaken for me please)

A nuke will not generate more air combat. with each drop you'll wipe out sectors of the map making fields unusable days to simulate the "years" an area would be dead. The only thing it would promote would be more "win the war" attitudes. and we have more than enough of those.

This quote you pulled up

"....Combat Tour is currently in closed testing and release is planned for the first half of 2006....."
- January 12, 2006 HTC Home Page"

...is most likely the reason they give very little information out. Too many time they have set a "date" and had to miss it due to problems popping up that they didn't forsee.  Maybe the week or two they took off to handle the H2H problems, maybe the time they took to set-up, and then swap to bigger and better servers, maybe the pizza party ran long. Dead lines are tricky, and with a project as big as CT it just adds to the problems.

Then each time one passes by, they get the "peanut gallery" posting here and spreading crap in the areas about how poor HTC relationship with the community, how they can't get anything done on time, how they screwed the pooch !!

To me this is a great game, and I have fun everytime I play. Anything they add on is bonus stuff to me. I think we have a great and varied plane set, the ground vehicle set is fun with a number of variations, the graphics are good ( I can tell a plane from a gv, and a GV from a tree) The sun comes up and goes down, the shadows move, What more do you need?

Like I said, I'm happy with what we got. Any thing they add, when ever they decide to add it, is like an extra piece of cake.

Well said!!

i am not saying its all about taking bases fellas. i love to dog fight to much to say that.

i can see where i miss lead you gents. so i will put it in a diffrent way.

i feel people Aces High Players play the game to only capture bases WAY TO MUCH. i am with Lute and feel a base capture is good from time to time but not non stop left and right with 100 players. now if its me and my squad that goes into a base to take it with enemy dar a sector and a half long I WILL LOVE TO TAKE THAT base from under them.

i do feel how ever this game is no longer (AH players only not HTC) Air to Air Combat any more. there is sometimes more gv fights going on the dog fights.

now please dont mind my last few post as for i was tired and just got off a plane from flying for ever so i re-read the post today and even i was lost on what i was trying to say. :D

you bring up nice points but now can you back them up with facts something that can be proven and if all your statements can be proven then prove them right now all you have is nothing cause i found no statement proving any of what you said.

again not doubting you but prove it. best way to do that is to have Dale post himself stating that this is only a flight sim or fighter sim. this would be intresting to see him post something like that.

First I want to thank Hub for digging up all those quotes for me... saved me an hour or two! :D

Its easy to see why you would think this

"but last i checked it was all about resetting the map. or did i miss something here."

The sad part is a lot of people do just GV, or buff, or join hordes to steam roll a base, because that is all they know. I've been flying here since before AW was killed. The game was much more into the air 2 air then. I remember upping from a base 4 times fighting the same P38 with one other guy, we never did get him....nice flying Lazer, ya dweeb!! :rofl  Back then the only time the map changed was when it got reset by HTC once a week. It was very rare to see someone win the war, even on Mindnao.

Too many people try to fly a fighter, get there butt handed to them, and look for an easier way. There is no easier way to learn fighters other than working with a trainer and getting your butt handed to you in the MAs, but jumping in a GV is pretty easy. Any one can spawn camp, and everyone gets lucky with the aim.... well not me, but most people. Buffing with the "simple site" we have now is also a piece of cake, but to saddle up on a guy in a fighter, and get into a firing solution, all the while your target is doing everything they can think of to last a bit longer so they can turn the tables, ahhhh that is THE thrill !

Those that look down on the "fighter" types, and won't take the time to learn them are missing the biggest part of the game. I feel sorry for them :(

Oh, and the nukes idea has to be the most rediculous suggestions I've read anywhere.

Weather ,better effects, and more customizable loadouts would be time better spent imho.

Dogfighting in jets with air brakes rule. The best thing about Korea is you don't have to grab much cause u can zoom climb and get into it. Also you  get way more flights per hour in because you can rtb and get back alot faster.

That has more to do with the design of the map than the speed of the plane.  If you double the speed of the planes, but triple the distance between bases, you'd actually get less fights per hour...

Time travelled between fights is a form of traffic flow control, and would be expected to be adjusted by the map designer to achieve the desired effects.  It wouldn't be reasonable to expect the same maps we currently have if the planes were much faster or slower than the ones we have.
