We have a newspeak media term that can be translated into English as "illegal armed gang-units". It's used to describe Chechen gangs in North Caucasus. Our beloved Militia (police) can be probably called "legal armed gang-units"....

I couldn't have said it better myself...

For most cops, however, there is the matter of ethics and morality. A sense of right and wrong, service to the public, and all that good stuff that little boys think about when they dream of becoming policemen.

For those that you described earlier, the only difference, indeed, is that the law is on their side. Otherwise they're just uniformed gangbangers who are taking their adolescent angst out on society... They serve nobody but their own egos, and deserve to be brought down to the level of what they really are--overgrown bullies with more testosterone than brains.

Frankly, I don't know why you feel this glib pride being associated with this kind of cop. They give the rest of law enforcement a bad name. They make cop-hating acceptable and in some cases, downright understandable. Tragic, really.

There is a big thread over at the SimHQ on this.

In Utah, you do have to sign the ticket and yes, it is an admission of guilt(contrary to what an officer may tell you). Read the sentences above the line you sign on. It states on the ticket that you agree to appear before the court clerk in whatever jurisdiction the ticket was issued in and pay the appropriate fine and that the officers version of events as stated above is correct. Arguing before a judge is a waste of time, because you signed the ****ing confession on the side of the road.
Funny thing, on my way to work this morning one of the dj's at the radio station i listen to here in Utah, mentioned traffic was all screwed up because of the number of cars pulled over on "Quota Day" was causing rubbernecking. Dude got tazed for questioning the random motorist revenue tax. He'll know better next time.
