I wish the original WarBirds team would get back together, Add Matt (Target) and combine Aces High, Warbirds and WWII online in to one good Sim. Maybe throw in a modern graphics engine.

Hmmmmmm....

This is the "original" warbirds team if I'm not mistaken, and the original AW team...and the original AH team.

I'm not qualified to comment on the issues on the various graphics engines or what the +/-'s are for each but what we have is generally very playable in a large multiplayer enviornment.

A lot of em are here, Killer is over at Cornered Rat with some others and I really don't know if anyone’s left at Warbirds.

My problem is I can't find one sim that has everything I want.

Warbirds - No strat, no people playing, at least not many.

Aces High - arenas are too small, Defenseless bombers, Map sucks

WWII Online - buggy, can't fly what I want when I want, flight models are flakey.

All - Better graphics, I know all the arguments about eye candy but it’s almost 2008, we have COD4, FarCry and crysis.

999000 only had about 300 kills in his bombers last month.

Its a good thing his bombers are defenseless

It just takes practice to get any good at it. how big an arena you want? take you hours to fly across these, why would you need it bigger? How many maps have you seen, there are a number of them, but they don't change as often as they use to, but we have a number of them. AvA changes all the time.

Not the size of the map, the number of players in one arena.

The numbers below pretty much look defenseless to me.

Late War Tour 95 Statistics for 999000
  Bomber
Kills         49
Assists    6
Sorties    100
Landed   3
Bailed     14
Ditched   3
Captured  0
Deaths    80
Discos     0

999000 flies in a manner that invites both attack and death, aka at low altitude,

Back when I still played actively, I flew many bomber sorties in AH that I made it home.  It really isn't hard to do.  Bombers are quite a bit more survivable than in reality when flown into the teeth of massed higher fighters like 999000 does.

To say bombers are defenseless shows your lack of skill in them.

I like to do long bombing runs at high alt, I just finished one and made it back with two of the three bombers I left with but that still doesn't change the way I feel about it. You pretty much have to stay in the tail gunners position to do that and once you get on the bomb run if you don't have a gunner along you’re screwed. It just erks me that people can get away with stupid tactics when attacking bombers simply because for all practical purposes they are unarmed most of the time.

You're mistaken...HiTech did not work for Kesmai, might have done some side work for them when he played AW but never a Kesmoid.

I've been told that HiTech hacked AW a lot, and I've also heard he was on their payroll briefly, but mostly just to keep an eye on him. I have no idea if there's any truth to that however.

Well for me, if I do high alt runs, I'm in F3 mode most of the flight. This simulates the "many eyes" all of those manned positions would have had, and it makes it easy to spot bad guys. Calibrate early, after you have run half a sector level to get your speed stable. If you spot bad guys DON"T JUMP INTO YOUR BOMB SITE for either calibration or bombing, deal with the treat first, then make your run. If I'm being attacked and I don't think I'll finish him before my drop, I'll chop the throttles to throw off his timing and bring him in closer, quicker. Bombers carry plenty of fuel, go around and make a new run, no big deal.

Also, 999000 stats you brought up..... while 999 flys for fun and dieing don't mean anything to him, you have to remember, those 100 sorties are really 33 sorties with 3 bombers each. So thats 49 kills for 33 runs, not bad  :aok

I saw the first beta for WarBirds that Killer and HiTech were showing off in Houston at an AW convention, I don't think HiTech did any work on AW other then mod type stuff like the guncam. HiTech?
