Free Russian Air Force
« on: November 11, 2007, 05:28:12 PM »
Not sure where this would go, probably O'Club, but, it is a general question so...
Anyways, anyone know anything about the Free Russian Air Force? A website would be great. I heard about it from a program on the history channel. All I know was that it was Russian pilots fighting against the Soviet Union in WWII who wanted to see the end of communism, and that it was the only Air Force to fly the Me-262 in combat during WWII. (besides Germany, of course)

That the ROA did fly any 262 is new to me.
I only know that its aviation arm was established in December 1944 by decree of Göring.

The German Wikipedia speaks of
- 1 fighter squadron (16 BF 109G)
- 1 night attack squadron (12 Ju 88)
- 1 bomber squadron (5 He 111)
- 1 liaison squadron

I would find it rather strange if the top-notch ( & top secret!) 262 would have been made available to a Russian unit.

yes, there is only i believe one document ever even linking a 262 with the roa.  and whether or not it was even delivered is up to debate.

Do a search of Russian Liberation Army or ROA.

They did have a recon version of the 262 if I remember right.
Once known as ''TrueKill''.
