« on: December 12, 2007, 12:07:07 PM »
Heya guys,

I am having a hard time finding more information/history about these 2 spit paints, and i have been told wings pallete isn't enough resource to start skinning.

So.. could anyone please help me out with these beautifull birds so i can start skinning those?

Spit Ix.
340 Sqn, RAF
GW-S (BS392)

Spitfire Mk.Vc
Unit: 91 Sqn, RAF
Serial: DL-Z (AB216)
Pilot CO of 91 Sqn Robert Oxspring, Spring-Summer 1942. He claim 13 victories, including 3 on this plane. Later this plane was used as target-towing at A&AEE.

Help would really be apreciated!
Regards,

DutchGuy

Lots of info on the 91 Spit.  Remember it's a Vc not an IX.  That profile is based on photos taken in May 1942 at Hawkinge by the Air Ministry of 91 Squadron.

I've got the set of photos in my 91 Squadron stuff.

So here's Bobby Oxspring in the cockpit of that bird.  You can see the squadron leader pendant and Nigeria inscription easily.  91 was "Nigeria" squadron.

Two images of the line up of 91 squadron.  Oxpring and DL-Z in the head of the line.

The boys of 91 Squadron, May 1942, Hawkinge.  Oxspring in the cockpit.

Not turning anything up on the French flown 340 Squadron Spit IX at the moment.  I'll keep looking.
