Your motherboard model would be the most helpful. Usually it's printed in bold letters near the CPU heatsink.

Most likely you have an AGP port, but you might only have a PCI port (I doubt you have a PCI-E, but it's possible I guess).

This limits your video card options to an AGP or PCI card (NOT PCI-Express).

You can find a GeForce 5200 or 6200 AGP card pretty cheap.  Anything better you might need to upgrade your power supply for.

Yes though, provide both your motherboard model and power supply strength in Watts (It's required to be labeled on the side of the power supply, usually in the top-left corner when the computer is opened for maintenance).

Sadly, you only have PCI slots, which means you're three generations of technology behind the times. You won't get much out of the game even if you upgrade as far as you can, especially because if your integrated audio chip.

Every integrated chip (both your graphics and sound) use the system CPU and RAM for themselves. A card version of each has it's own processor and memory on the card, freeing up the rest of your system.

heY ooz,

This is falcon, cobras dad,and we are trying to figure this rig out..LOL

Which card would you recommend for the comp to allow it to be a BIT better than it is...And would it just basically be plug and play,or would we have to do jumpers as I have heard about on here when placing cards in with comps which have chipsets in them...

Not to put too fine a point on it, but running an FX 5200, he *HAS* upgraded as far as he can, basically.

The system's too old to upgrade beyond what you've got. Best bet is to save up and get a new one, or start cleaning your system so it runs a bit leaner to get some more performance out of it while you can.

He isn't running an FX5200, he's running an Intel chip.

Falcon, I dunno where you got that idea. Every motherboard with a CPU socket or slot ever made has a chipset. It's what handles data flow between the CPU and everything else.
You may be going way back to the days of ISA slots, the predecessor to PCI, where interrupts had to be dipswitched in in some cases.

I'll make it simple for you.

Here's the secret for you:  Save your money.

Your computer is pretty dated and when you did buy it, it was a low end model.  Basically, waste money sticking a nitro system in your '87 Yugo, when to get that nitro system to not make your computer blow up would require a 2nd mortage on your house.

Save your money, buy a new computer when you have the cash, and you'll much appreciate it as compared to dumping money in an old computer and having less satisfactory results.

Not only is your onboard video card holding you back, but your Celeron processor is pretty old.

Now, if you plan on playing AH2 for the next 2 at least and don't plan on playing any new games, then you may actually benefit from a low end graphics card upgrade.

I upgraded to GeForce 5200 in a similar situation to you and with the effects turned down it has made a huge improvement. I know I am often on 20-25 FPS when others are on 75 but I think anything over 25 is workable and it certainly helped me get more kills.
