Slim line cases

Thinking about building new again; my system is 3-4 yrs old.

Liking the look of the smaller size towers - slimline or micro ATX.

Anybody familiar with Dynapower USA?

Case is pretty cheap at Mwave ($29), with 430W p.s.    Been real happy with my Antec Sonata, but want a smaller footprint this time.

I can understand wanting a smaller footprint, but I would worry that an advanced graphics card won't fit. Almost every new card I read about has some comment about it being huge, it being long, having to re-route HD cables to let it fit, etc...

If you like the case, go for it, but I wouldn't run it ever on that power supply they give you. Dynapower's not one of the "good name" PSUs out there, and buying the 430W unit brand new online only costs $10.

Besides, you might need more watts anyays. 430W is average nowadays, and you might want more for better CPU and GPU.

Not counting the PSU, the case looks fine, but I can't tell if the rear I/O plate is removable or not. I know it sounds silly, but I've run across some that are stamped steel/aluminum, and if your motherboard doesn't have that layout it won't fit into the computer. See if you can pull up a review of this case, or a better photo of the I/O plate. If it's removable, go for it. If not, keep looking.

Are you cramped for space?  I mean seriously...what are you reasons for the smaller footprint?
If you are, then I can justify a micro atx or shuttle etc etc.  Otherwise, save yourself the headaches.  Mid towers are so much easier to work in (routing cables etc).  You don't have to worry about 'will this part fit?' and you options for parts are GREATLY more vast.

Unless you are planning to move your PC to LAN parties regularly, or you are planning ahead for the AH Con and you're going to travel with your PC, then a Mid-tower makes life much easier.

So, why the slimline case?

Slimlines just look cooler and more modern - its just the aesthetic appeal really.  That's all.

Sounds like the disadvantages outweigh the advantages if you're building a gaming rig for AH though.
