Mitt Romney's private equity firm, Bain Capital, and Thomas H. Lee Partners have agreed to pay $19.5 billion in a leveraged buyout agreement with Clear Channel Communications , the largest radio station owner in the country.
Clear Channel owns more than 1,100 full-power AM, FM, and shortwave radio stations, twelve radio channels on XM Satellite Radio, and more than 30 television stations in the United States. Premiere Radio Networks, which is the largest syndication company in the United States, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Clear Channel and is home to Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and many others. Sean Hannity recently signed a large multi-market contract with Clear Channel, as well.
Who's ready for the propagandathon?
I really hate to burst your bubble here. But we should look at the facts of this matter:
1) This sale took place in November LAST YEAR, NOT this year. This is thus very old news that you are reporting. If a so called propagandathon was coming because of this sale, it would have started long ago.
2) Romney did help found this company way, way back in 1984, and it did help to make him rich. But he left the firm before he entered politics. He holds no position within the company, and is not even a member of the board of directors. Your claim that he thus has some kind of influence or power over the company is thus totally bogus.
You need to come up with a much better Republican conspiracy theory. This one simply does not fly. This is sort of the dirty, underhanded tactics of lies and distortion that Democrats are becoming all too well known for in this campaign.
