Limited TrackIR field of view
« on: October 18, 2007, 07:00:06 PM »
I have found that using Track Ir gives me a very limited rear view in F4U's when compared to standard HAT views.
The reason for this is that, when looking to the rear, I just can't push my virtual head back far enough. The maximum distance between viewpoint and headrest is much larger in hatview than in TIR views.
This results in following problem:

Standard hatview, max distance between head & headrest:

The same with TIR:

This seems to be a limitation within AH, not the TIR hard or software.

I did only test a few planes yet. So far only F4U's seem to be affected, but the disadvantage is tremendous in that very case.

EDIT: Yes, I know it's wrong, but I can't change thread title from "vield" to "field" anymore :o

OOPS...

Ya I've noticed that as well.......
It's been said we have three brains, one cobbled on top of the next. The stem is first, the reptilian brain; then the mammalian cerebellum; finally the over developed cerebral cortex.  They don't work together in awfully good harmony - hence ax murders, mobs, and socialism.

And I always wondered why I felt so totally uncomfortable in F4U's

If this could be fixed, I'd probably fly them more :aok

It's not a limit impeded by TIR itself. And in other planes the effect is less noticeable or not there at all.

Just got the T-IR, and love the corsairs. Found this issue as well. Could this be corrected, so the motion limit is the same for TrackIR as it is for hat views?

I would love to see this addressed as well.
