Which one would be better in a new system, any noticeable differences?

between those two... the latter

Dual-core it is.

Thanks for all the replies :)

Ya... dual core chips for sure....make sure you get a high speed, dual channel board and memory.  1GB for each core at least .... probably more if you want your system to last .... DRAM prices are cheap now.

If you a serious gamer you may want to Look into SLI or Crossfire for your board.

I'm waiting till quad-cores become more mainstream to upgrade...DDR3 will be mainstream soon too.

But you can sit around waiting for the next wave of computer technology forever... so just budget and buy :)

Big difference.

Dual Core (Pentium-D) is basically two cores of old design.

Core-Duo is a brand new design, latest technology chip.  It runs cooler and more efficiently, uses less power, and is much more stable.  A 2.0GHZ Core-Duo runs MUCH faster than a 3.0GHZ Pentium-D.

"Hyperthreading" processors in my opinion are more hype than anything else.  Dual core is going to be better in almost every scenario, unless you have an operating system that doesn't support multiple cores (Such as Windows 95/98/ME), or never run any software that supports multiple cores (AH DOES).

You'd be surpised, many parts of XP do not support dual cores that well. You have to figure it out carefully. For example running games in 3d stereo does not work well at all on dual core systems. Statements like yours are very misleading as it really depends what someone intends to run in the way of OS + software. Myself, I've deliberately stayed single core for gaming, and core-duo for apps.

I'll do some research, but so far dual-core seems to be what I am planning to choose

You should do just fine with dual core for AH. Check with Skuzzy or the support forum, but i have never had any trouble with dual core and ah

Just shot an email to skuzzy with the two chips in mind that I cant decide over. Hopefully should get a reply that would help me to go with one to purchase :)
