nice to get info form "outside" the "western" world

Please feel free to take some of the heat off of USa for a bit..

Thanks.

i can read news in two languages and follow Western press using translation sites like inosmi.ru plus Russians living in he West. But I know they may be biased, so I sometimes ask about Western media coverage on some events. I have access to Euronews TV channel and sometimes to BBC World or CNN.

What surprised me was that such operations were usually in every news program, and now it's like in Soviet times - nothing nowhere. When a pair of Su-27s banged USS Kittihawk in Sea of Japan several years ago - it was reported in media, when in 2005 our strategic aviation was training over Indian Ocean (!!!) - it was in all the news. Absolutely nothing now.

In Soviet times we had short-wave radio, now we have Internet.

We celebrate it 13 days later, on Jan 7th, Russian Orthodox Church still lives according to Julian calendar, we switched to Gregorian only in 1918. Jan 7th Gregorian is Dec 24 Julian. "Old New Year" is on Jan 13th.

Just in case you didn't know - we are Christians too, Western churches separated from us in 1054. I am an Atheist, but I was raised in a country with a strong Christian tradition, so I know more about Christianity then most of young people here who are baptised, wear crosses and go to church.

Harps about how much they know about the inner workings of the minds of the national forefathers and how much their knowledge of the Constitution is superior to the Supreme Court's but deep down they still wonder what all the hooplah the "King George haters" stirred up was all about and think the whole revolution thing was really an uneccessary hiccup in the natural capitalistic world order of King, country and colonies.

Definition of a liberal extremist: A twenty first century Indian lover/White man hater. May even have a little native American blood in his/her bloodline (or at least claim to). Life was better before the white man came along. If the United States of America had never existed the world would be a better place because all of the things the U.S. interceded in would certainly never have come to pass.

It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)
