A way around the skin limits on P51's?

On the subject of limit numbers on skins, the 51 being the major one.

Since there is little technical difference (feel free to correct me) would it be too difficult to introduce a P51K, that way it opens up another 15 slots for pony Skins and resolves the problem of which skin to rotate out.

Just a thought.

Would you limit it to only actual historical P51Ks?

Would it make more sense to go with non USAAF birds and have RAF designations for those skinned non USAAF?

You could have Mustang IIIs for the B/C birds and Mustang IV's for the D/Ks

There are enough RAF/RAAF/ RNZAF etc skins to keep folks busy with those birds

No, It is a suggestion to get around the present limits, which ever would be the most convenient solution to the problem.  I am just throwing the thought out there. To get people thinking.

How and  if it evolves from here is fine by me.

On the other hand, the skin limits are there for a reason. Currently all the skins require just shy of 2 GB of RAM according to Skuzzy (or was it Pyro??). I think it's around 1.8GB (?). Upping the limit will only allow that limit to be filled, thus ever-increasing the already heavy skins drain on your system.

From what I have gathered the 16 spots is a programing limit.  Creating a "new" plane is a way around it and this suggested "fix" had been discussed last February.

It has also been suggested that some of the empty spots for planes like the Kate, Val, M16, M8, Jeep etc might be used.  However, HTC said that was not going to happen either.

considering that most skins being submitted by players are garbage or clones of garbage I find the idea without merit. make some better skins and knock out the ones in there. 15 excellent skins are much more useful than a crapload of garbage skins.

I think new pony skins should be submitted, and the community should vote on which to put in the game. It would make for better skins due to the competition, and we would get a skin rotation.

every skin should be submitted. there is no question about that. if you made a p-51D skin send it to HTC.

the 15 P-51D skins currently in game are not the end all be all of skinning art and every single one of them needs replacing with better skins.

this whole notion that the mustang is done and nothing more is to be accepted is a load of B.S.

the p51D slots will never be full. they will always be replaced by better skins that surpass the quality of the skins currently available. the challenge is to make higher quality texturemaps that surpass those currently in game.

last I looked most of the p51D skins can be knocked out by anyone willing to take the time to do a quality skin. and a few can be replaced by anyone willing to do a halfassed job.

The P51 is one of the most known fighters of WorldWar2.I beleave seting a limit is a disrespect to it.And to the history of it.
