I'd hazard to say, Nuebob, that with all the people just in America, what is it, over 300 million now?...You're bound to have some that can't seem to make it by, no matter what. Just statistics, and the law of averages', I suppose. Crap, If you listed all of the things that could befall someone to lead them to financial and social ruin, the list is kinda long. Guys' lose everything, even their Drivers' license, In a divorce, because alimony+child support is so high. It makes you wonder about what you gotta do to avoid it.

I'll admit there's plenty of people who ruin themselves. They get hooked on drugs like Crack, Heroin, Crystal Meth, they just can't control their drinking, things' like that. There's also those that take risky financial gambles', like putting up they're house against a loan to start a business that fails, or over-extend they're credit on other things. Maybe they hook up with someone who takes everything they have, and dump them, and they think all the time they're in "love"...I dunno, there's a long list of stupidity that leads' to ruin. But keep in mind, Things can suddenly take a turn for the worse, and people lose everything, No matter how hard they work.

I have nothing but sympathy for those few that are legitimately ****ed, used up and discarded by the system. I think that charity is a wonderful human instinct, and worthy of continuation.

My true gripe is with those that rise the system into chronic mediocrity, having never suffered, risked, sweated or wanted for something greater.

And Arlo, I changed it to cards. As much as I sometimes want to be british, I have to be realistic

The problem isn't people getting burned.  It's people who refuse to apply the cold pack.

I see your point there, Nuebob-Only this time, I thought of the SS# stealing, Under-the-table working, taking advantage of every Taxpayer-funded program that they leech off of, type of person. They usually have two houses-one somewhere up north of the Rio Grande, and the La Casa in Sonora, or Michuoacan...And I realize that the first SS check they got with someone else's card probably payed the coyote's fees' to get them up here. And they talk about it to their friends, right in front of us, and they laugh about it, because they know that not very many of us speak spanish, And we can't understand them.

In that context, I could fully understand your first post.
