Well this has Will Smith in it, so that's one strike against.  Still, I have a free movie ticket burning a hole in my pocket...

Saw the Omega man and the last Man on Earth was on a few weeks back.

Couldn't watch it all though. Had other things to do. Still though it seemed an okay movie.

I'm disappointed about "I am legend" from what I am reading here. Was looking forward to seeing it. Then again I was disappointed with Spiderman II and Pirates of the Carribean III. Both pretty much had a bunch of wasted time in them and they killed off as many people as they could from the first movie.

Disney usually leaves you feeling good about things. You won't feel that way after Pirates III.

Anyone know the title of the original film before Omega man? It might be fun to find it and watch it. - Maverick

Maverick, for a real treat I recommend you read the original novel by Richard Matheson.  Wrote in the 50's.  I read it in the 60's.  It is so good that I was somewhat disappointed by Omega Man, although OM was good.  Didn't see the movie with Vincent Price, but I bet it was wayyyy overacted knowing Vincent.

In the novel, female vampires would taunt our hero at night by taking their clothes off and pose temptingly for him to see as he peaked out of his barricaded home, trying to lure him out.

The Omega Man was much better, although Smith is really the only actor today who could play this roll.  Just his presence saved the film.

I saw a copy of this movie ( figure that out ) and enjoyed it , but would not pay to see it . But movies are all about entertainment and the ability to escape into movie world for an hour and a half or if you are really lucky two and a half . Will Smith is ok in this and C Heston was great in Omega Man . whats the difference kick back eat some pop corn and watch , everybody needs a break from AH sometime .

I am aware that Omega man was a remake (of sorts) of last man on earth.   I think that they even say that in the credits.. maybe not..

It was just that back then they didn't feel obligated to make a negro version.. they got lucky and used Heston who was a great actor and perfect for such a role.   it was a very fresh treatment of the last man on earth or.. any last man on earth type of story.

I am legend is just not a good remake from what I have seen of it and what people who have seen it tell me.   I am also not a fan of smith..  he gets on my nerves pretty quick.

I saw it on Sunday, thought it was pretty good. Will Smith gave a better performance than I expected. Had a lot of unrealized potential imo leaving me with the feeling it was rushed out the door though I still enjoyed it.

After reading the book, I already knew from the trailer's that the movie was not going to be the same.  Zombie's instead of vampires, NYC instead of So Cal, etc.  Anyways, I enjoyed the movie to a point, and whole heartedly agree with Stang that it could have been so much better.  It really was a disappointment from that view point.

The one thing I do wish Hollywood would do, is actually have some quality contrl people watch the damn movies a few times to pick up mistakes or things that just plain don't make sense.  That in itself was enough to rate the movie low.

Again, reiterating what Stang said, It could have been so much better.

I have to agree with you Stang, and here is a question.  What and why was Will Smith putting that liquid stuff infront of his house and in that tarp?  What was it and what did it do?  They never explained it in the movie and it is bothering the hell out of me.

My guess would be vinegar or amonia, to cover any scent.

You're right though, they don't really explain it at all in the movie.

rented a low budget "direct to rental" movie yesterday called "I am Omega" that was pretty good... fun to watch.

The title was obviously made to confuse people into renting it but it was not bad.
