For a Holiday Diversion, we had 202 people show up for this event. Thanks to those who made it, it was an interesting Semi Formal event to watch unfold.
Our target of a 60/40 Split remained well within that area the whole night. Well Done on that, thank you all for keeping it balanced, I don't think I had to type out one time that any side needed to transfer people over, that was incredible and greatly appreciated.
The Allies fielded 114 Pilots, 29 went to Buff Formations, 85 into Fighters.
The Axis fielded 88 Pilots.
With the Allied going nearly 1 to 1 with the Axis Fighters, the Bombers looked as though they were headed for a cakewalk over the 2 target areas. The Allies could put up a strong defense against the Axis with even numbers.
Small problem arose when the Allies quickly learned that Stampf and his crew simply don't like cake.
Only 15 of the 29 Bomber Formations actually hit any objects at the target. Of those, many were small hits with a couple of bombers doing major damage of between 14 and 36 objects each.
The Axis lost 68% of their total objects, clearly showing that removing or distracting the bombers was essential as Half the bombers did Major Damage.
The Bomber Formations ran smack into some well groomed Axis Fighters who knew their job, Down bombers then play with the fighters. The Allied lost 74% of their Bomber Force over the course of the night.
The Axis held the command of the air campaign, forgoing the initial urge to get it on with all those shiny new Allied Planes and did their job well. The event was based on a simple scoring system, Bomber lives vs Objects Destroyed.
The Axis take this event with keeping the target damage to 68% while causing 74% of the bombers to fall.
This event was well balanced, and by looking at the Opportunities for damage, it's crystal clear that this thing could have gone far worse for either side with subtle shifts in communication, strategy and Luck. This night, however, communication and coordination led the day for the Axis.
