lolz
... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB

If/When we get a perked ordinance system then alot of the above can come to pass...............

For me

every 1000lb (or 500kg) bomb should require 0.25 of a perk.

every 2000lb bomb should require 0.5 of a perk

every 4000lb bomb or over should require 1 perks

each subsequent pair of 20mm cannon (over the first 2) should carry 4 perks.

What we see then is that single player formations with field killing loadouts get some serious perkage (b24 formation with 8000lbs each = 12 perks, lanc with 14,000lbs each = 21perks). However this should be balanced such that rtb'ing all the formation after a successfull field killing trip earns serious perks.

The three cannon La7 gets an auto 4 perks with the N1K2  the chog the typhoon the mossie and the tempest. (the tempest may carry its own perks of course)

Perk everything to some degree if its eny is 20 or lower.

I love to GV and do Jabo missions vs GVs, get used to it.  Being good at one helps in the other.

The likelihood of the mossie ever being perked is precisely nil.:D

I disagree vehemently...

As it is now, there are enough perk planes to give players a gentle incentive to work towards perks, which is a good thing. Players who want perks tend to RTB sorties rather than simply augering when they are done, and there is an incentive to fly the less capable rides which dramatically increases the variety of aircraft you see in the arena.

And as it is now, only a relatively small portion of the higher performance equipment is perked - and much of it is fairly specialized at that - which means that a player can play the sim for a very long time without missing anything of substance if they never fly a perked ride at all.  As a result, the current system gently encourages "good game play" without hampering gameplay in any meaningful way.

However, as you begin to perk the remainder of the higher performance aircraft, what would happen first is that players would naturally gravitate to the highest performance aircraft that isn't perked, which means that if you perk the LA, you'll see a higher proportion of XVI's, 51D's, and Niki's, and as you perk each of those, you'll see an increasingly higher percentage of whatever remains, all the while decreasing the variety of aircraft that are generally flown.

Until eventually what happens is even nastier - and is one of the very worst things about one of the competing sims I used to fly. Eventually, the new player has not only the "usual" hurdles to overcome in trying to compete in AH against veteran pilots (many of whom have decades of experience) but what's even worse, has to try to do so using the mediocre equipment which is all he can access, while the very best pilots (who've amassed loads of perks) get to use the very best.

This idea - to put it mildly - hoovers dirty pond water.

Adding minor changes - such as the ammo perks mentioned, or perking the 3 cannon LA, wouldn't necessarily be bad, as long as it wasn't overdone.  But perk too much and you create a huge problem fixing a problem that doesn't exist, except generally in the minds of a few who don't fly the rides that they want to see others fly less (or not at all).

Why is it funny, Talon?  The players who posted appear serious in thinking it would add to the game experience, I am serious in thinking it would detract from it for many people.

Are you still flying mostly F4U's these days?

I agree with Lute that the 3 cannon La7 should get a light perk.  Perhaps when we get the perked ordinance system that loadout will get one.
