Coons are cute when young but they can become a handfull. They can be downright dangerous matured. Sharp teeth and claws

My wife's friend had two & one day when they were nearly adults something went wrong at feeding time & they mammed his face for life.  Pretty nasty as adults.

Does her family own a liquor store? If so, you may have the perfect wife.

We did not raise him just to have something rare. We got him because he was very cute when he was little and dident look like he would hurt anything. Now that he is older hes a lil'meaner but hes still cute. We can't just realise him, he dosent know how to hunt his own food. Hes still worth having.

ForestS, I wasn't picking on you and was responding to ariansworld asking about getting one (that's why I quoted him).

Many people do not know how to properly care for such animals. Although they are often cute and friendly as babies, as adults they can be dangerous and unhappy in captivity. So many of these end up at shelters or dumped in the wild where they will usually die because they didn't learn how to survive in the wild as youngsters.

There's also the issue of infectious diseases (for example raccoon rabies is epidemic along the Atlantic coast) and in many states owning certain wild animals is illegal. Some of these animals end up as fad pets, which encourages commercial trafficking.

Vans,

Not really rare, but i used to have a couple of these: -

Leopard Geckos.  Beautiful, docile creatures.  Mine were so tame and each had their own character, they used to climb up my arm and sit on the back of my neck for the warmth.

I also had one of these, a golden gecko, in the same tank.  The suckers on its feet meant it could grip to the glass, which used to confuse the Leopard Geckos!

The shop where i bought their food from had a pet Comodo Dragon
