emusic.com lets you download 30 tracks/month for $10/month and you own them (non DRM'ed MP3). They only have indie music though. Amazon.com has DRM free MP3 tracks for about $0.90 each (again, own, not rent). Itunes charges $1.29 per track, I think, for non DRM MP3. If you are into classical music, hey, it's a possibility

http://www2.ham.deutschegrammophon.com/home) has most of it's library as non DRM very high bit rate MP3s at about $1.29 per track (unless the track is longer than 7 minutes, in which case it is understandably more).
I would stay away from DRM'ed music: if the service decides to change, and the DRM server is shut down, you lose the ability to play your music.
Not that this has anything to do with AH, but I thought I'd mention what little I know.
